Objectives:
Predictive Analysis for Proactive Problem-Solving
One of the most significant advantages of AI in construction site inspections is its predictive analysis capability. By analyzing historical data, AI can predict potential issues before they become problematic. This allows project managers to take proactive measures to address concerns early on, potentially saving significant time and resources. Predictive analysis can forecast everything from material fatigue to scheduling delays caused by unforeseen factors.
Real-time Monitoring for Immediate Corrections
AI enables real-time monitoring of construction sites, providing immediate feedback that was previously impossible. This real-time data stream allows project managers and teams to make quick adjustments, ensuring that projects remain on track and within compliance standards. For example, if an AI system detects that a particular building element is not being installed as per the design specifications, it can immediately alert the relevant personnel to correct the issue.
Improving Safety Standards
Safety is paramount on any construction site, and AI significantly contributes to enhancing safety protocols. There's also the matter of data privacy and security; collecting vast amounts of data on construction sites raises questions about how this information is stored and used.
Project scope
In this project, we were annotating various elements related to construction site safety, including workers, equipment, buildings, and worker safety gear, using bounding boxes and polygons. These annotations will serve as training data for an AI model aimed at monitoring and ensuring safety compliance at construction sites.
Key Tasks:
1. Annotating Workers: Identifying and marking the locations of workers within the construction site using bounding boxes.
2. Annotating Equipment: Outlining and annotating construction equipment present on the site using polygons.
3. Annotating Buildings: Defining and marking the boundaries of buildings and structures within the construction site using polygons.
4. Annotating Worker Safety Gear: Identifying and annotating the presence and correct usage of safety gear such as helmets, vests, and goggles on workers using polygons.
